Lizard

Lizard Point at the foot of the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall is the southern most point of England. Since 1751 a lighthouse at Lizard Point has warned ships of this dangerous and rocky coast. The Man o’ War rocks are a short distance offshore. Sea captains were undoubtedly aware of the dangers posed by ‘The Lizard’, as they called it. The Lizard is famous for its serpentine stone, which is dark green with red and white veins.
