This 24 hours the wind vearing from North to
west and and squally to a close reeft top sail bree
se with heavy rain and thunder and lightning
we shiped quantitys of water on deck the hatches
perfectly batned down the ship makeing verry
little water No Observation
In the morning read a portion of scripture
dureing the day employd secureing things abo
ut the decks our cabin on deck floating with
water our beds and most of our wareing apparel
wet we assembled in our little disordered santu
ary two apprentices and two of the crew read the
107 Psalm and expounded according to my ability
with as much feeling of gratitude as a minister who
uld do to the great congreation dureing day Mr [M..?]
one of the passengers beholding on one side of the
ship the clouds look black and heavy and on
the other bright and shineing pass the bright
ness of gold told me one was mount Sinai and
the other mount Sion I said let us go to mount
Sion tho says he we must go to Sinai first
I told him I had bing thare – after midnight
I lay down tired with the tossing on the broken waves
