Called the hands as usual put them to work & then took my boat, & in Company with Capⁿ Martin went to examine the Salt Lagoon (the one at the bottom of shoal bay) returned & dined on board the John Pirie having decided that for the sake of obtaining grass & fresh water it would be well immediately to remove the stock to the neighbourhood of the Lagoon. Afterwards agreed with M^r Dawsea that he should give up all claim to the ship & remain at the Companys Settlement on wages. Received a note from Capⁿ Ross requesting my assistance to arrest his runaway sailors. Manned & armed my boat & in company with Cap^ns Ross & Martin made an unsuccessful attempt to come up with them
