Cape Leeuwin

<p>”]‘Cape Leuwen’ is the misspelled name of ‘Cape Leeuwin’. Cape Leeuwin is in Western Australia and is the most south-westerly point of the Australian continent. The cape is named after the first ship known to have visited the area, the Dutch vessel ‘Leeuwin’ (‘Lioness’), which charted the area in 1622. Matthew Flinders was aware of this and when he began his exploration of the southern coast of Australia at the cape in 1801 he named it Cape Leeuwin.
