Port Adelaide

Port Adelaide is situtated on the Port River the main port for the city of Adelaide and played a major role in the States development. Before William Light chose the site for the main port of the colony, the Port River was covered with mangroves and tidal mud flats. The river was first sighted in 1831 by Captain Collet Barker before being officially discovered by Captain John Jones in 1834.
