[, on board the wrote. | Read source notes.]

We have had a smart Breeze from E,N,E, since Tuesday
with delightful Weather, and this Day at Noon, were abreast
of St Antonio, one of the Cape Verd, Islands which
was about 15 Miles distant, on the larboard Side, we then
had a Calm, that contd for about an Hour, after which
a clever Breeze sprang up again, nearly due East   _____
The Sun has been nearer to us this Day, than it is
expected to be again during the Passage, being perpendicular
above our Heads at Noon, but I have often felt more
heat in England, than we have experienced here yet   _____
