Captain John Nelson was master of the Emma in 1836. We have been unable to discover anything else about his life or career, and would be grateful for any information about him that readers can supply.

Hi Peter,
Are you looking for a picture of Henry Douglas??
There is a book “Happy was our Valley” The Douglas Family History….Ern Carmichael and Barbara Mullins…. this has the story of Henry Douglas and his children and their farm at Happy Valley.
He is my grandfather’s grandfather also – so we are related.
Regards,
Annabel Douglas-Hill
