D^o W^r. Saw Madeira ahead. Miles run, 1245 + 57 = 1302. P.M.
Lat. 33E23′ N^o. Long^e – . 6.30. Not being able to weather the West-
-ern point of Madeira, & the wind falling very light, we attemp-
-ted to tack, at about 4 miles from the land, but failing
wore round, & stood off to the N.W. Light variable airs & fine.
