Sunday, Octr 23. Light airs & hazy. Divine Service was in
–               terrupted by a sudden increase of wind & wet,
which rendered it necessary to furl royals & tgt sails,
& take in two reefs in the topsails. Noon. Fresh winds
& rain. Head E.S.E. Wind N.E. Miles run, 59 + 8246 =
8305. Late 34E42′ So. Longe 16E56′ Wt. Up Mainsail & spanker.
P.M. 9. Fresh gales & squally. In 3d reefs of topsails: set trysails.
