At day light (having arranged with Capn Ross that if the sailors would not do their duty I should put hands aboard to take her to V.D.L. sailors & all,) called all hands aft & finding that they would do their duty if one of her Mates (Mr Dawsea) were taken out of her, consulted with the Capn & Officers on the subject & having arranged that it should be so, returned to the shore, spent the rest of the day in making various arrangements connected both with the ships & the shore.
