Source note for Young Bingham Hutchinson’s journal

Hutchinson’s journal opens with a description of the Buffalo as ‘an ugly old tub’ as well as a line drawing of same. Entries begin on 13 July 1836, and trace the course of the journey through observations on the weather, the ship’s progress, and events on board. Hutchinson wrote in ink in a clear hand.

The original journal is in the State Library of South Australia (PRG 1013/1). The transcript used on this site is by Bob Sexton, based on the transcript provided by the State Library.
